COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic in Adelaide

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic in Adelaide – Let’s stay safe. Do not panic and follow the instruction given by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO has announced that COVID-19 is a pandemic. A pandemic is a disease epidemic that has spread across a vast region, for instance, multiple continents, or worldwide.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19 within South Australia, several businesses and venues are required to remain closed to the public until further notice.

South Australian coronavirus updates for Thursday, March 26

There are now 235 COVID-19 cases in SA after the most significant daily rise in cases to date – but encouragingly, there appears to be minimal community transmission of the virus so far within our borders.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild illness to pneumonia. Some people will recover easily, and others may get very sick very quickly.

People with coronavirus may experience:

  • fever
  • flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, and fatigue
  • shortness of breath

How it spreads

The virus can spread from person to person through:

  • close contact with an infectious person (including in the 24 hours before they started showing symptoms)
  • contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze
  • touching objects or surfaces (like doorknobs or tables) that have a cough or sneeze droplets from an infected person, and then touching your mouth or face

COVID-19 is a new disease, so there is no existing immunity in our community. This means that COVID-19 could spread widely and quickly.
